Revenu Québec offers a refundable tax credit for upgrading a septic system, up to $5,500 per dwelling for 2017 to 2027. You must sign an agreement with a qualified contractor before April 1, 2027, for your principal residence or, under some conditions, your cottage.

- Resident of Quebec on December 31 of the claim year
- Owner of the dwelling: principal residence or, under conditions, cottage
- Work done by a qualified contractor
- Expenses paid in the claim year

- Building, renovating, modifying or rebuilding a septic system
- Replacing a cesspool with a compliant septic tank
- Expanding or replacing a leach field
- Some professional services tied to the work, such as soil studies
